Boyne Labradors is a family
kennel located in the beautiful foothills of Virginia’s
Blue Ridge Mountains. Boyne labs are part of the family, living
in the house with their humans, Sue and Mike Puffenbarger.
The Puffenbargers have been training dogs since the mid-1990s.
Lifelong dog owners, Sue and Mike were bitten by the obedience
competition bug while living in Western Michigan. Since moving
to Virginia in 1999, they’ve expanded their interests
to breed conformation and hunt testing. When the Puffenbargers
decided to start a small breeding program, they chose the
name “Boyne Labradors” to honor Sue’s Irish
heritage. The Boyne Valley is located in County Lough, where
much of Sue’s family still resides.
Sue and Mike believe strongly that versatility
is one of the hallmarks of the breed. Health and soundness
are a priority so all breeding and performance dogs are certified
through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals to have clear
Hips, Elbows and Eyes.
